DocuSign Pricing (2026): What the Plans and Envelope Caps Really Cost
We read the live pricing pages and compared Capterra, G2, TrustRadius, Trustpilot and Reddit, then judged the plans on caps, renewal, cancellation and signature level.
Summary
DocuSign pricing in November 2026: eSignature runs $11 a month for Personal (5 envelopes a month), $30 per user for Standard and $45 per user for Business Pro, both capped at 100 envelopes per user per year. Overage costs $3.60 to $7.80 per envelope, and ratings split from 4.7 on Capterra to 1.5 on Trustpilot. For contract teams, the cap and the renewal terms matter more than the sticker price. We read the pages; we did not subscribe.
DocuSign is the reference e-signature tool, but its pricing is built around an envelope cap that is easy to outgrow. Standard costs $30 per user a month for 100 envelopes a year, about $3.60 per send if you use them all, and overage runs $3.60 to $7.80 per envelope. Good for teams with predictable volume; risky for anyone who cannot forecast sends.

How we researched this review
- Tested for
- 1 day
- Plan paid
- None: we did not subscribe to DocuSign
- Version tested
- DocuSign eSignature and IAM pricing pages and the DocuSign pricing explainer, as of November 4, 2026
- Test period
- 2026-11-04 → 2026-11-04
We did not buy a DocuSign plan and we did not send a test envelope, and we say so rather than imply a hands-on trial. On November 4, 2026 we read DocuSign's eSignature and IAM pricing pages, their footnotes and FAQ, and DocuSign's own pricing explainer for overage figures. We took the screenshots ourselves. We then read the live rating pages on Capterra, G2, TrustRadius and Trustpilot, plus excerpts of Reddit threads about per-envelope charges. Signing quality cannot be measured from outside, so our score covers pricing and contract terms only. Derived figures, such as cost per envelope, are our own arithmetic on published prices and are labelled as such.

NO if you...
- A freelancer or small firm sending a few contracts a month that would rather avoid a per-envelope meter
- Anyone who needs qualified signatures in the EU or Switzerland without going through sales

Pros and cons
Pros
- Compliance statements are on every plan GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II and a certificate of completion are listed on every plan.
- Counterparties do not need an account Per DocuSign's FAQ, recipients sign without an account, which removes friction on the other side.
- A clear refund window on annual plans Annual plans bought on docusign.com can be refunded within 30 days, once per customer, which makes a first-year trial reasonably safe.
Cons
- The 100-envelope cap is easy to pass, then the meter runs Overage is $3.60 to $7.80 per envelope. A Reddit thread title cites an $11.40 renewal quote, which we could not verify.
- Advanced and qualified eIDAS signatures need an Enhanced plan The comparison table shows SeS only on Personal, Standard and Business Pro, and AeS, SeS and QeS on Enhanced, which is sold through sales with no public price.
- Trustpilot sentiment is far below the B2B review sites 1.5 out of 5 from 1,285 reviews against 4.5 on G2 and 4.7 on Capterra. Complaints on Trustpilot focus on auto-renewal, refunds and unexpected charges.
- Pricing varies by page, plan type and billing mode Third-party listings show $15, $45 and $65 for the same plan names, against $11, $30 and $45 on DocuSign's page, so check the checkout page you are sent to.
Final verdict
DocuSign earns its place as the default e-signature tool, and nothing we read suggests the signing itself is the problem. The pricing is. The sticker price is reasonable at $11, $30 or $45 a month, but the real cost depends on envelope volume, and the cap sits at 100 per user per year on the plans most teams buy. If your volume is steady and below that line, Standard at $360 a year is fair value for the audit trail and compliance statements. If it is uncertain, model the overage before you sign: at $3.60 to $7.80 per envelope, a busy quarter can cost more than the subscription.
For legal teams the order form matters as much as the price. We could not test support or signing performance, so our 6.5 reflects pricing and terms, not the product as a whole.
- Pricing transparency 5.5/10 Overage and renewal less visible
- Value at low volume 5/10 $2.20 to $5.40 per envelope when the cap is fully used
- Value at steady volume 7/10 Reasonable if under 100 envelopes per user
- Signature and compliance depth 8.5/10 Advanced eIDAS on Enhanced only
- Renewal and cancellation terms 5.5/10 30-day window, then the term balance is due
